throbbing feet and delivery pizza

Today Matthew and I had this wonderful idea that since we did not have anything planned for our Saturday that we would go for a walk. It started off with just a walk around the lake off from our apartment and ended up with us walking all the way to Crabtree Valley Mall. For those of you that don't know, the mall is about 5 miles away from the apartment. We were all hyped up that we were going to walk to the mall and eat some lunch then go to best buy to look at receivers for speakers that we may get from my brother. The walk down there was not to bad. It took us a little under an hour to get down to the mall. The last stretch I have to say was the worst for me because Matthew was walking faster since he knew that we were almost there. We took a go amount of time eating and sitting down in the mall so that we could relax a little. By this time I was in a little bit of pain from all the walking on hard pavement with shoes that I don't wear all that often. The part that I was dreading was the walk back. I was so dreading it that I convinced Matthew to check out the bus schedule to see when the next bus to our area would be coming through. Turns out that the next bus would be there in over an hour...less than what it took us to walk there.

Thus with all that said and done, and all my options of all other ways home were ruled out, we headed out on our journey home. Basically this was the worst part of the day and I got really frustrated with the whole situation. My feet were soar, my knees were aching (talk about getting old), and all my energy had been sucked out of me. Let's just say that I probably was not the best person to be around at about that time. My lovely husband, bless his heart, tried his best to cheer me up with ice cream. The only thing was that he got the exact ice cream that I told him (but he didn't hear me) I did not like. Oh well. We took a few breaks and in the end we made it home. As soon as we got home I took off my socks and shoes and laid down on the coach and haven't really gotten up but about 3 times the rest of the night.

We went ahead and ordered pizza for dinner and watched a couple movies. Now my husband has drawn me a hot bath since my body is not quite agreeing with me. I shall be going to enjoy that now!

Bathe in Epsom salt. Helps to 'pull out' the soreness. True. Next time at the grocery or drug store, pick some up and store in your bathroom closet. Then you'll be ready for that next sore occasion.

April Update

I thought that since I had not given an update in a while that is was about time I did.  So I am going to tell you what has been going on this past month. Matthew First  (because his is shorter than mine): Matthew had his certification test this past month as well as his E4 qualification exam.  He took the E4 exam before he had certification tests.  The E4 exam has a lot to do with why he was assigned to unaccompanied travel to Guam.  He was supposed to be ranked up to an E4 before he could be sent overseas as a accompanied traveler.  (If that doesn't make sense to you...join the club)  But, luckily  Matthew feels like he did well on the exam so hopefully he will be ranked up to an E4 and there won't be any controversy over me joining him in Guam.  Then there's the certification tests; these are the tests that he takes at the school for learning how to be a Naval K9 handler.  Matthew feels that he did really well on these tests ...

Burn It Down | October 17, 2018

I want to tell you all a little story about a day that I had recently, yesterday in fact! I'll start where my day always seems to start: Six am on the dot with a mouth breathing Isabella standing right beside my bed.  Anyone else have one of those type of children?  The ones that wake at the same absurd hour of the early morning? Both of my children have inherited that lovely trait from their father, not from me! Anywho, I could sense that she was there; standing beside me, staring at me, willing me to wake up.  You know, that ability to feel someone's presence before you actually see them?  Yep, that is how I wake up most mornings since Matthew left on his deployment. And so the day started!  Conner was already awake as well, I could hear him 'talking' to himself in his bedroom.  So in we went to get Conner up and changed to bring downstairs with us.  Only problem, Conner woke up on the wrong side of the bed on this particular morning.  So ...

Australian Vacation

Hello all!   I know that it has been quite a long time since I last posted a blog but I decided it was time for another post.  Having a little one crawling all over the place really takes up my time now-a-days.  Infact, the only reason I am able to write this now is because she is napping.  Maybe I will be able to get this done in the time it takes for one nap...we shall see.  So here it goes. This past week the Ohrvalls' took a much needed vacation to Cairns, Australia.  Matthew and I had such a blast taking Isabella on her first family vacation but it was difficult to transition our old vacationing without kids mindset and bring it to a vacationing with a baby mindset.  It is quite different going on vacation with an 8 month old than it is with just two adults.  Needless to say, we spent a lot more time in the hotel room during nap time and at parks for playtime.  But we were still able to do a lot of really fun stuff as a family that we ...
