black outs and study sessions

So I have missed a few posts but that ok right? I mean that is what these things are for! Sunday was a fun day. First there was church then Walmart for 4 hours. Yes that is right I said FOUR hours and we even left with more money than we came with! How is this possible? Well we were selling coupon books of course! Yep more of those coupon books for the missions trip. We sat outside of the Walmart in Wake Forest and sold five books. There were also some pretty generous donations given to us. It definitely required some stepping out of the comfort zone because we were solely in charge of the whole deal. The weather was beautiful so we couldn't have asked for a better day to be out there. I even think that I got a little sun on my face! After about hour 3.5 we were all getting hungry thus we hurried on over to matthew's mother's house for some chow.

Mondays are basically mondays. I mean who really likes Mondays? I know I don't. Out of all the days of the week I have to say that Mondays are my least favorite. I had class and lunch with my hubby then more class and then homework. The best part about Mondays for me is the great Monday night television shows. I (used to make but now don't have to) make Matthew watch the line up with me. It starts at 8 with the Secret Life of an American Teenager then Make It or Break It at 9:00. But last night was the season finale of Make It or Break It so it will not be on again until later this summer. Another reason why Mondays won't be as good with out it. Oh well.

Today is Tuesday. The count down is on for spring break! There are only 3 more days, 5 more classes, and one test until the big break!! Today has been a beautiful (almost completely) spring day. I woke up early this morning, earlier than normal. Tuesdays are my days to go to Knightdale high school for my student observations. It was a pretty interesting observation today because about fifteen minutes into the class the power went out! The whole school was in the dark. The back up generator came on and made the hallway lights come on but the classrooms were running off the window light. As to be expected, the students freaked out for about 10 minutes and then my mentor teacher decided that even if the lights don't come back on she was still going to get on with her lesson. So we did the lesson in the dark! It was definitely an experience that could be helpful in the future. I believe the school let out early but I was not able to hang around and find out. I normally only stay for first period but today they were doing the tenth grade riding test so I stayed a little later. We believed that they were trying to make sure that the tenth graders could finish the writing test before they sent everyone home. The school can not continue running without power for obvious reasons like no lunch and no light.

Soon after I left the school I had to head to my school for classes of my own. I had my religion class and human sexuality class today. I was a little bad today though cause I decided that since it was so nice outside I was going to leave my human sexuality class early and enjoy the weather. I headed home to find my husband's college diploma in the mail!! I am so proud of him! I had to call and tell him about it of course. With that good news I made myself a frozen pizza, opened all the windows and doors to let the warmth in and started studying for my test on Thursday. This is as far as the day has gone yet the best is yet to come when my husband arrives home!

April Update

I thought that since I had not given an update in a while that is was about time I did.  So I am going to tell you what has been going on this past month. Matthew First  (because his is shorter than mine): Matthew had his certification test this past month as well as his E4 qualification exam.  He took the E4 exam before he had certification tests.  The E4 exam has a lot to do with why he was assigned to unaccompanied travel to Guam.  He was supposed to be ranked up to an E4 before he could be sent overseas as a accompanied traveler.  (If that doesn't make sense to you...join the club)  But, luckily  Matthew feels like he did well on the exam so hopefully he will be ranked up to an E4 and there won't be any controversy over me joining him in Guam.  Then there's the certification tests; these are the tests that he takes at the school for learning how to be a Naval K9 handler.  Matthew feels that he did really well on these tests ...

Burn It Down | October 17, 2018

I want to tell you all a little story about a day that I had recently, yesterday in fact! I'll start where my day always seems to start: Six am on the dot with a mouth breathing Isabella standing right beside my bed.  Anyone else have one of those type of children?  The ones that wake at the same absurd hour of the early morning? Both of my children have inherited that lovely trait from their father, not from me! Anywho, I could sense that she was there; standing beside me, staring at me, willing me to wake up.  You know, that ability to feel someone's presence before you actually see them?  Yep, that is how I wake up most mornings since Matthew left on his deployment. And so the day started!  Conner was already awake as well, I could hear him 'talking' to himself in his bedroom.  So in we went to get Conner up and changed to bring downstairs with us.  Only problem, Conner woke up on the wrong side of the bed on this particular morning.  So ...

Australian Vacation

Hello all!   I know that it has been quite a long time since I last posted a blog but I decided it was time for another post.  Having a little one crawling all over the place really takes up my time now-a-days.  Infact, the only reason I am able to write this now is because she is napping.  Maybe I will be able to get this done in the time it takes for one nap...we shall see.  So here it goes. This past week the Ohrvalls' took a much needed vacation to Cairns, Australia.  Matthew and I had such a blast taking Isabella on her first family vacation but it was difficult to transition our old vacationing without kids mindset and bring it to a vacationing with a baby mindset.  It is quite different going on vacation with an 8 month old than it is with just two adults.  Needless to say, we spent a lot more time in the hotel room during nap time and at parks for playtime.  But we were still able to do a lot of really fun stuff as a family that we ...
