sick days and guy's night

Today I woke up with the worst sensation that I was going to throw up. I also had a horrible throat pain that came along with the cold room that we slept in that night. (Matthew had the same throat thing) As the morning went on I kept of feeling worse and worse. I didn't know what was wrong with me, and still don't. I got dressed and drove out to the location where we were having senior orientation. As soon as the first person that was supposed to lecture started talking I felt like I was going to pass out if I stayed. I figured it would be rude if I puked or fell asleep during someone's presentation so I decided that it was probably best if I went ahead and went home. I was really upset that I could not hold out for the whole day because now I think that I may have to make up the senior orientation either this summer or next year. That would totally suck! I went home and slept. It was so weird because I had so many different symptoms going through my body (you name it and I probably experienced it at some point today). When Matthew got home from work he was such a sweet heart and he go me a salad, one of the only things that I ate today. Matthew was a very comforting husband and I appreciate him so much! I don't know what I would do without him.

Matthew also had the opportunity to have a guy's night tonight with his buddy Lee who came up from Mount Olive just to chit chat with him. Lee is an awesome friend and he is always there for Matthew whenever he needs a guy to talk to. They left to go to some restaurant about 45 minutes ago. Hopefully they won't stay out to long cause Matthew has to go to work early tomorrow morning because he has modules (tests) tomorrow. Prayer for Matthew and his test would be much appreciated. I am doing some laundry right now and then I am going to head off to bed. I took some sleeping pills so hopefully I will be able to stay up until it is done.

April Update

I thought that since I had not given an update in a while that is was about time I did.  So I am going to tell you what has been going on this past month. Matthew First  (because his is shorter than mine): Matthew had his certification test this past month as well as his E4 qualification exam.  He took the E4 exam before he had certification tests.  The E4 exam has a lot to do with why he was assigned to unaccompanied travel to Guam.  He was supposed to be ranked up to an E4 before he could be sent overseas as a accompanied traveler.  (If that doesn't make sense to you...join the club)  But, luckily  Matthew feels like he did well on the exam so hopefully he will be ranked up to an E4 and there won't be any controversy over me joining him in Guam.  Then there's the certification tests; these are the tests that he takes at the school for learning how to be a Naval K9 handler.  Matthew feels that he did really well on these tests ...

Burn It Down | October 17, 2018

I want to tell you all a little story about a day that I had recently, yesterday in fact! I'll start where my day always seems to start: Six am on the dot with a mouth breathing Isabella standing right beside my bed.  Anyone else have one of those type of children?  The ones that wake at the same absurd hour of the early morning? Both of my children have inherited that lovely trait from their father, not from me! Anywho, I could sense that she was there; standing beside me, staring at me, willing me to wake up.  You know, that ability to feel someone's presence before you actually see them?  Yep, that is how I wake up most mornings since Matthew left on his deployment. And so the day started!  Conner was already awake as well, I could hear him 'talking' to himself in his bedroom.  So in we went to get Conner up and changed to bring downstairs with us.  Only problem, Conner woke up on the wrong side of the bed on this particular morning.  So ...

Seated with Christ: An Imaginative Activity

This post is from an imaginative activity prompted from the book "Seated with Christ" by Heather Holleman.  The question posed was: "As an imaginative exercise, describe your seat in the heavenly realms with as precise and vivid detail as possible.  What do you see, hear, smell, taste and feel?  What are you wearing?  What are you experiencing in your mind?"  The following is my answer: I'm seated, comfortable and relaxed.  I have no worries.  All I can physically do is sit and stare at the majesty that is my most indescribable Lord that sits before me.  The most magnificent smells of the Earth can not compare to the wondrous smells that permeate the air here.  They remind me of some of my favorite smells on Earth such as lavender, the beach and pine wood needles; but there is something else entirely in the air that I can not put words to.  The songs of angels saturate the air but seem to fade into the background at the same time. ...
