Party and Shopping Weekend

This week went by really fast!  I was basically trying to get everything in the house situated and organized because we were hosting a party on Saturday night.  Matthew and I decided to host a 'going away/good luck' party for a couple of the guys in his kennel that are leaving soon.  One of them was supposed to be leaving Sunday on deployment but since the government shutdown his funding for the trip to Africa was cut off.  They are pretty sure that he will be able to go on his deployment, it is just a matter of when.  The other guy leaves in a little more than a week.  He is going to Texas to be a dog trainer for the K9 programs in the military.  This is the same guy that adopted out Pluto, the dog that we have been keeping for him.  So that also means that Pluto will be leaving us soon.  There will be a 'good bye Pluto' blog when we know what day he is leaving.

But anyway, Matthew and I spent some of the day on Saturday prepping for our party that was supposed to start at 4:30.  We were catching up on some of our shows on hulu when the time for the party rolled around.  The clock hit 4:40, then 4:50, and on to 5:10, nobody was here yet!  I mean really, fashionably late happened like 20 minutes ago, now it was just rude people!  :)  Matthew checked his phone (which had been turned off, silly him) he had 2 missed calls from his chief so he called back.  Chief informed us that there had been a little trouble on base and that the other guys from the unit had been called in to hold down a perimeter.  They were on a assignment, that is why no body was here!

With a sigh of relief, we were able to relax and know that everyone would come over when they could and they would be hungry enough to eat all the food we had waiting!  Chief and his wife and son came over after the phone call so we were able to hang out and talk with them for a while before the others showed up around 6:30.

Everyone loved my slow-cooker pulled pork, coleslaw, baked beans, and mini oreo cheesecakes!  Of course we had plenty of chips and dip and peanuts to snack on too.  The guys ate most everything!  We hung out for a while talking then we played Taboo and a card game called "Spoons" that got a little heated.  I mean people were going crazy during that game!  But it was all fun and we had a great time.  Plus it was easy clean up so after everyone left around midnight Matthew and I were able to put things away, start the dishwasher and clean the floors before we went to bed.  Waking up to a clean house after a house party is awesome!

Today is Sunday and it was pastor appreciation day at our church so we were able to take leftovers for the meal after church.  Double bonus!  We went to church, ate a lunch there and chatted with the pastor then went up to Anderson Air Force Base.  We went up there to shop at their exchange because they have different things than the navy exchange has.  We found a pretty awesome bedroom set that we really like but it is kind of high dollar.  We are going to think on it for a while and see if there are any better options at the Navy home gallery at their Columbus day sale.

Matthew took me shopping for a few things that I am needing here at the only mall on the island.  We went to Macy's and saved a boat load of money!!  We paid 33.60 for the 6 things that we got and altogether we saved $128.80!!! I am super soaked about that!!

Later we took Pluto down to Old Wives beach and swam and threw the ball for Pluto.  It was a lot of fun being able to just walk to the beach and stay for as long as we like.  That is definitely one of my favorite things about Guam!  Overall another great weekend!!

Moving Right Along

So with the due date nearing and the anticipation of finally being able to hold our precious baby girl, I thought that I would share a little bit of my everyday normal for now!  I am one day away from being 38 weeks along and let me tell you:  I have one active baby inside me!  Yes, she loves to move around and kick/punch mommy in the gut, ribs, and pelvis!  Some of these kicks are so strong that I actually jump!  For those of you that don't believe it could get that bad...oh have I got a treat for you!  I recorded a mere 1.5 min video of my belly!  Now this video is only a small taste of what she does ALL DAY LONG!  And yes at night too!  It's no wonder I have such a hard time sleeping.  So without further ado, here is Ms. Isabella Marie Ohrvall staring in her first movie entitled:  Making Waves in Mommy's Tummy.  :) Update on presentation:  Isabella is still breech and we are diligently trying all that we can to ...

37+ Week Update

So I know it has been a while since my last post.  I figured it was about time for me do another update blog on the pregnancy.  It will be pretty short cause there is not much new to report. I had an ultrasound at 36 weeks last week to get  an update on how Isabella is progressing and what position she was in after a few weeks without knowing.  If you have been keeping up with me on facebook then you know how that turned out!  We didn't get any news from the ultrasound other than the fact that Isabella was still sitting comfortably in her breech position. The following Monday we had an appointment with my OB to get the rest of the information that we were wanting to hear.  She told us that Isabella was growing appropriately and was looking healthy!  So good news is awesome to hear!  Of course she then proceeded with the news that we already heard, Isabella is still breech.  We reviewed our options for turning and delivery and decided to t...

China Trip: Xian Smaller Section

We spent a few days in the city of Xian where we were able to see the touristy city as well as an ancient village still living within the boundaries of the Great Wall.  It was interesting to walk around the city and notice the old mixing in with the more modern stuff in both architecture and culture. The first thing that we did when we got into Xian was take a tour of the city wall.  Xian is basically what China considers a small city bordered by 4 walls that they conveniently call the North, East, South and West walls.  The walls were built around the city to protect against unwanted armies with outpost every few meters for soldiers to protect the city.  The big touristy thing to do on the wall is rent a bike and ride all the way around it.  However, with my pregnant belly and all the bumping of the wall's stones we decided against doing that part of the tour and instead we just walked along the East wall while the rest of the group rode around the wall. ...
