China Trip: Xian Larger City

Xian is a big area composed of many other smaller cities and towns.  We went into the larger city section on our trip too.  This is where we encountered our first Walmart in China!  It was the only one that we saw but there are many other Walmart's throughout China.  We also enjoyed a lot of people watching in the main shopping district.  Here are some pictures.

The photo above and below are of two towers.  The Bell Tower and the Drum Tower.  These two towers were used in ancient times to signify the beginning of a work day and the end.  They would ring the bell to signify the beginning and then bang the drums to signify the end.  They don't use them anymore though.

This was the only way to find milk in China.  Out in the open sitting in the sun all day.  Needless to say we didn't drink milk while we were there.

But they sure do know how to make some pretty cool bread!

We saw a few of these in different areas of China too.  They are fish spas where you pay to basically stick your feet in a fish tank and let the fish eat the dead skin off of them!  Gross! I wouldn't be able to do it, too ticklish!

Had to put this in there!  The Walmart entrance sign.  And yes they did have better prices in the Walmart than in the street shops or at the street vendors.

We also visited the Muslim Quarter in this part of Xian but Matthew and I didn't stick around there for very long because all it was was touristy shops and people bugging you to come buy from them.  It wasn't our cup of tea so we didn't get any pictures of it.

Thanks for reading!

Moving Right Along

So with the due date nearing and the anticipation of finally being able to hold our precious baby girl, I thought that I would share a little bit of my everyday normal for now!  I am one day away from being 38 weeks along and let me tell you:  I have one active baby inside me!  Yes, she loves to move around and kick/punch mommy in the gut, ribs, and pelvis!  Some of these kicks are so strong that I actually jump!  For those of you that don't believe it could get that bad...oh have I got a treat for you!  I recorded a mere 1.5 min video of my belly!  Now this video is only a small taste of what she does ALL DAY LONG!  And yes at night too!  It's no wonder I have such a hard time sleeping.  So without further ado, here is Ms. Isabella Marie Ohrvall staring in her first movie entitled:  Making Waves in Mommy's Tummy.  :) Update on presentation:  Isabella is still breech and we are diligently trying all that we can to ...

37+ Week Update

So I know it has been a while since my last post.  I figured it was about time for me do another update blog on the pregnancy.  It will be pretty short cause there is not much new to report. I had an ultrasound at 36 weeks last week to get  an update on how Isabella is progressing and what position she was in after a few weeks without knowing.  If you have been keeping up with me on facebook then you know how that turned out!  We didn't get any news from the ultrasound other than the fact that Isabella was still sitting comfortably in her breech position. The following Monday we had an appointment with my OB to get the rest of the information that we were wanting to hear.  She told us that Isabella was growing appropriately and was looking healthy!  So good news is awesome to hear!  Of course she then proceeded with the news that we already heard, Isabella is still breech.  We reviewed our options for turning and delivery and decided to t...

April Update

I thought that since I had not given an update in a while that is was about time I did.  So I am going to tell you what has been going on this past month. Matthew First  (because his is shorter than mine): Matthew had his certification test this past month as well as his E4 qualification exam.  He took the E4 exam before he had certification tests.  The E4 exam has a lot to do with why he was assigned to unaccompanied travel to Guam.  He was supposed to be ranked up to an E4 before he could be sent overseas as a accompanied traveler.  (If that doesn't make sense to you...join the club)  But, luckily  Matthew feels like he did well on the exam so hopefully he will be ranked up to an E4 and there won't be any controversy over me joining him in Guam.  Then there's the certification tests; these are the tests that he takes at the school for learning how to be a Naval K9 handler.  Matthew feels that he did really well on these tests ...
